Come and hang out with Dr Martijn Boersma from the University of Sydney as he unravels the mysterious world of technology supply chains. Ever thought about where your shiny gadgets actually come from? Spoiler alert: it's not just a tech fairy waving a wand. It involves everything from cobalt mining in the Congo to those massive Foxconn factories in China. And let's not forget the not-so-fun stuff, like child labour and other big ethical dilemmas that pop up along the way.
So, if you've ever wanted to know what it takes to churn out your beloved tech toys, this is your chance. Bring your curiosity and a few questions because there will be a Q&A afterwards, which is a great opportunity to quiz Dr Boersma on anything from environmental issues to the latest gadget trends. It's a free event, but you'll need to save your spot, so don't forget to register. We'll be at the Waverley Library on 14 November 2024, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Come for the insights, stay for the witticisms.
