Looks like there's a pretty cool opportunity for kids these school holidays to dive into the wacky world of comic book creation. Forget just drawing a pretty picture; this is about giving a character some serious personality, you know, the kind that makes them interesting even if they trip over their own feet. Christof Bogacs, who probably knows a thing or two about making fictional folk come alive, will be on hand to guide them. They'll learn to balance those pesky flaws with their shining strengths and figure out what makes their character tick, all for maximum dramatic effect. Think less 'perfect hero' and more 'lovable rogue who accidentally saves the day'.

Once their imaginary friend has a proper backstory and a bit of a complex, they'll get to design them and then, the best bit, plonk them into a series of short comic strips. This little creative session is completely free for children in school years 3 to 6. Just a heads up, you'll need to sort out a booking online if your little artist wants to secure a spot. You can find this happening at the Margaret Martin Library, which is handily located on Level 1 of the Royal Randwick Shopping Centre, on Monday 14 July 2025, running from 3:00pm to 4:00pm. Might be a good way to get them off the screens for an hour.
