Dive into the fascinating world of native plants and discover how these green wonders have been the original multitaskers of the bush—acting as medicine, tools, and tasty snacks long before supermarkets were a thing. You'll get to give your senses a workout by touching, sniffing, and even tasting bush foods, while checking out some pretty cool cultural artefacts along the way. If you've ever fancied yourself as a bit of an artist, there's a chance to have a go at ochre painting, and to wrap things up, you'll get your hands dirty propagating a native plant to take home as a little green trophy.
Just a heads-up to parents and carers: you'll need to stick around and lend a hand to the kids, who should be aged between 6 and 12. The whole shebang will be happening at Woollahra Library in Double Bay, and it's completely free—though you'll want to grab a ticket on Eventbrite just for the children who are coming along.
