What to Plant in Your Garden in Winter

As the leaves start to turn brown and the temperature drops, it's time to start planning on what to plant in your garden in winter.

Here are some fantastic herbs and veggies to plant during winter to keep you busy during isolation!
Salvia Rosmarinus, aka rosemary, is a woody, perennial herb with fragrant, evergreen, needle-like leaves and is a member of the Mint family.

A wonderful smell, pretty flowers and very hardy especially in frost. Rosemary is an ideal herb to have in the garden.
Best month to plant: June & July.

Best in roasts, pastas and to wear on ANZAC Days.

A stable vegetable in any home, the brown onion is from the Allium family.
Onions have a huge range of uses like; chutneys, pickling and even used in science education because of their large cells!

Best month to plant: June, July & August.
Do keep an eye out for plant diseases and pest like white rot or onion fly.

Best roasted or caramelised for burgers

Apple Mint
Mentha Suaveolens aka Apple Mint, is a member of the mint family Lamiaceae.

Apple Mint is a well recognised mint variety that's very popular in making mint sauce, mint jelly or even mint tea!

Do be careful, this mint loves to take over the world when it's not contain!
Best time to plant: June, July & August.

Best made into sauce or jelly for lamb dishes.

Delicious in salads, radish is a sturdy veggie that also can be companion plants for many other crops, as their pungent odour deters insect pests.

Thyme is a sturdy herb that is perfect for our climate!

Lemon Thyme is our favourite choice as its lemony tinge is fantastic for marinates!
