Take a leisurely stroll through the swanky streets of Point Piper with the Historic Houses Association, where luxury seems to have set up permanent residence. This posh little corner of the world is named after Captain John Piper, who once entertained guests in his rather grand mansion, Henrietta Villa. And just in case that wasn't enough opulence for you, there were also two prestigious homes called Woollahra House, because why have just one? As you meander along, you'll get a peek at the stunning historic houses dotting the peninsula and hear a medley of colourful tales about everyone from scientists and artists to sportsmen and politicians. You'll even hear about a cartoon character or two that made waves in this fancy neck of the woods. Oh, and let's not forget today's billionaires soaking up the coastal views – some things never change.
The adventure kicks off at Redleaf Beach, conveniently outside the Woollahra Council building, so you can take a deep breath and bask in the ocean air before diving into history. You'll saunter all the way to Lady Martin's Beach, where you can pretend you've owned a yacht in another life. It's a steal at 25 bucks to join in on this scenic jaunt. So mark your calendars for Monday, 10 March 2025, from 1 PM to 3 PM and get ready for a delightful walk where the glamour of yesteryear mingles with the glitterati of today.
