Parents Jack and Grace Hurn thought their 3-year-old son, Sully, was unwell with a urinary tract infection, only to discover he had a tumour in his bladder. Sully was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer that grows in soft tissue called Rhabdomyosarcoma.
For two years Sully and his family have been fighting this cancer, with support from local charity, Kids with Cancer Foundation - which funded Sully’s feeding tube, required during his cancer treatment, the social worker position at the children’s hospital he received treatment at – which provided so much care and support to their family, weekly Care Packs to take Sully’s mind of treatment, and more.
Jack, Grace and Sully have experienced first-hand how external support can make a huge difference, and this June they are calling on the community to support the charity that supported them:

From now until 10 am Saturday, 20 June 2026, there is a 72-hour donation matching initiative for Kids with Cancer Foundation. An anonymous donor has committed to matching every dollar donated to Kids with Cancer Foundation in this period (from 10am Wednesday, 17 June until 10am Saturday, 20 June).
Kids with Cancer Foundation is a national Australian charity headquartered in Castle Hill with five key programs: funding children’s hospitals and paediatric oncology wards around Australia, including clinician positions and infrastructure; direct financial assistance for families; Care Packs, Wigs4Kids; and funding research.
Most recently, Kids with Cancer Foundation provided $10 million to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead to support the two new paediatric oncology levels, which recently opened, and $500,000 to Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, towards the Minderoo Children's Comprehensive Cancer Centre to fit out an oncology family lounge, an outdoor area, and overnight facilities for patients' families.
